This History of Club Champs

Every Summer since 1916, Parkview has put on its best to bring out the best.

Played over two successive days in March in Medal format, Summer Club Champs is a member’s only showcase of just how challenging our course can be. In truth, those who have played in the Annual Summer Club Champs would agree that Parkview at its best can also bring out the worst in a competitor’s game. While the fairways are a lush carpet of Kukuyu, the greens run to 13 (although some swear the Stimp is even higher).

The rough, encouraged by sunshine and highveld rain is thick and long. Even the trees join the party, every branch flush with growth. Combine this with some truly nasty pin positions and you have a recipe for magnificent golf. Past winners have balanced courage and caution to navigate both days, and as always at Parkview, having some luck in the bag can make all the difference.

The 144-strong field is divided into 3 groups according to handicap; usually scratch to low single-digit, low single-digit to early double-digit, followed by those blessed with higher handicaps. The contenders are paired together on the final day and tee-off at around midday, making the balcony overlooking the 18 th a fantastic afternoon spot to witness the inevitable drama.

2025 sees James Kennedy attempt to defend his title against a solid group of contenders.

On the final day, anything is possible.

Entry Dates

Entries for the Men’s Club Championship to be held on 15 and 16 March 2025 will open on 14 February 2025 via email, and close on 18 February 2025.
On 28 February 2025 the list of players who have qualified to play will be emailed, together with the competition entry fee and the Handicap Indexes which will be used to determine the respective Divisions.

Entry Criteria

Entry to the 2025 Men’s Club Championships will follow the criteria list below, and will, other than the 20 Qualifying Winners, only be valid for members who meet the criteria over the period 1 Jan 2024 to 31 Dec 2024.
